THE SECRET LIFE IN SCHOOLS
  • We’re partnering with the High School for Environmental Studies to create a Secret Life class in which students make their own videos.
  • The Secret Life of Cell Phones was screened at cell phone recycling collection points throughout the Johns Hopkins University campus on Earth Day.
  • Zayed University in Dubai has requested use of Secret Life materials for its students.

Internships

INFORM is a small but growing non-profit environmental group focused on media and web dissemination of environmental and sustainable practices information for the general public and everyday consumers. Especially in these times, our group is limited in resources and maintains a small but dedicated core of employees. Because of this, we expect the same commitment from our interns.
For ALL Internship positions, Inform requires:
• Strong writing skills (Everyone contributes to all of our outgoing/public work)
• The ability to work well with others
• Understanding of basic Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Powerpoint)


Communications/Development Intern Responsibilities:
• Work with staff to build rapport with green urban companies and organizations.
• Continually update "Products and Services" links List by finding/researching new sustainable products and eco-friendly companies
• Reach out to sustainable companies and offer website link exchange, product promotion in exchange for donations, and networking.
• Maintain Inform networking profiles: MySpace, Twitter, Facebook Fan page, Group, and Causes page: Add updates and news. Continue to broaden reach.
• Brainstorm fundraising ideas (ex: cell phone collection, dvd sales, Amazon associates program, etc).
• Correspond with various organizations that host film festivals (particularly environmental/social) and apply to be screened.

Environmental/Research Intern:
• Work with staff on current projects, such as PSAs, video pre-production, website content, etc.
• Update RSS Feed (Delicious) with newsworthy articles about environmental topics (electronic waste, chemical hazards, cell phones, recycling, paper, beef, etc)
• Brainstorm article and profile topics for semi-monthly e-bulletins (These can be for companies, environmental issues, progressive people, etc).
• Continually update "Products and Services" links List by finding/researching new sustainable products and eco-friendly companies
• Compile/update quick sheets on our video topics (ie: newer legislation, updated resources, product recommendations, etc) to help Inform our public.

Video/Web Intern
• Find viable sites and videos for "Recommended links" section of website.
• Update sustainable products and services section by researching new and growing companies/products.
• Work with staff to create content for Inform's video section/blog
• Develop informative posters, flyers, and cards to coincide with various Inform projects
• Work with staff/interns to broaden Inform's reach on the web and via strategic media outreach.
*Candidates with web and graphic design skills preferred
