THE SECRET LIFE IN SCHOOLS
  • We’re partnering with the High School for Environmental Studies to create a Secret Life class in which students make their own videos.
  • The Secret Life of Cell Phones was screened at cell phone recycling collection points throughout the Johns Hopkins University campus on Earth Day.
  • Zayed University in Dubai has requested use of Secret Life materials for its students.

Film Festivals

INFORM is proud to be involved in several film festivals.

Business of Being Green Film Festival
Friends of Ryerson Woods will be hosting a day of award-wining short films about what it means to be green on November 20th, 2010. Eat some popcorn and view festival favorites, such as The Secret Life of Cell Phones, What's on Your Plate?, What's the Economy For, Anyway?, The Greening of Southie, among other films. Jeff McCarter, executive director of Chicago's Free Spirit Media, will discuss the role, power and challenges of documentary filmmaking, as well as showcase several recent films created by Free Spirit Media students.

9th Annual Media That Matters Film Festival
The 9th Annual Media That Matters Festival presented INFORM's The Secret Life of Paper with The Rethinking Resources Award on June 4th at HBO Studios in New York City. The video was one of only two environmentally-themed films chosen for this year's collection of twelve short films, which premiered on June 3rd, 2009. The Media That Matters Festival, co-sponsored by Arts Engine and Cinereach, showcases inspiring short films that tackle a range of social justice and human rights issues. The festival's theme is "Screen-Act-Impact" and each of the winning short films is paired with take-action links. The Festival collection is screened nationally and internationally for a full year and reaches an estimated worldwide audience of 1 million.
